YEAR 2 PARENTS
Due to our expansion, we have 10 places left for September 2019 for those pupils who have yet not received a place.
Those parents of pupils who are currently attending a primary school rather than an infant school can now apply for their child’s Year 3 place at MDJS ready for September.
Michael Drayton is committed to developing the whole child: whether they excel academically, discover a love for outdoor learning or enjoy playing competitive sports- your child will find their area of expertise and together in partnership we will work to help develop it.
MDJS leads the way in many aspects of Primary Education:
The Alfresco Outdoor Learning Classrooms are led by Wildlife Kate, a teacher specifically employed to develop our pupils using outdoor learning. Kate is a familiar face to many who watch BBC’s Countryfile and Spring Watch.
In addition to Alfresco, we have an outdoor gym, computer suite which not only houses 32 computers but also 70 iPads, netbooks and 2 3D Printers. We also have a Lego Studio which helps our pupils to build and program robots.
Our designated areas allow for creativity to be equally as important as our academic subjects. We have a Music Room, Art Area and Cooking Space.
Pupils in Y3 are taught to play 2 musical instruments. This year we have had the violin and guitar taught across the year by specialist teachers. As pupils progress through the school, pupils can continue with music tuition at a subsidised cost.
All pupils are taught Spanish from Y3 to Y6 with an additional half term of French tuition within Year 5.
We pride ourselves in making memories, both within the school day and around the day/school year. Each year group have a residential on offer from Y3 sleepover to a 4 day trip to Isle of Wight. We also offer free before and after school clubs throughout the school year along with subsidised horse riding and sailing lessons.
If your child loves sport then our school will offer a platform for their development. Throughout the year we enter many competitions: Triathlon, Golf, Athletics, Frisbee, Football, Rounders, Hockey, Netball and many more.
If your child finds learning challenging then our Learning Support Team can help develop them or support them with any emotional or social area. Specialising in therapies from Lego Therapy to Cooking Therapy to Play Therapy, our team work tirelessly to support our pupils. We are also excited to have trained our Learning Mentor to become a Thrive Specialist Practitioner. Thrive will help individuals to build resilience and regulate their emotions.
