World Mental Health Day - just a few of the many mental health and well-being activities.
Be Bold and Go Gold!
At the end of a day, that was filled with lots of learning, pupils in 5HK played a game to solidify their understanding of greetings in different languages.
European Day of Languages was filled with lots of fun and learning. From completing a scavenger hunt to writing our own “Rainbow of Love” poems, 5HK has been working super hard.
Roald Dahl Day! From Roald Dahl themed scavenger hunts to creating fizzing artwork, 5HK have enjoyed reading George's Marvellous Medicine and doing all the fun activities to celebrate the brilliant author!
After discussing the devastation that earthquakes cause around the world, we created structures that may be able to withstand an earthquake. We then tested these structures using our very own "Earthquake Simulator 3000".
As a part of our Extreme Earth topic, we looked at earthquakes; where they are most likely to happen, and why they happen. Pupils then used information cards, atlases and their locating skills to identify and label the different earthquakes that have happened over the last 200 years.
We used our scientific enquiry skills and tested three different ways of creating a volcano explosion. Which one did you think was the best?
As a part of our Extreme Earth topic, we looked at volcanoes and even created our own!
Solids, Liquids or Gases?
We looked at the particles within solids, liquids and gases. We compared the properties of these states of matter and re-enacted what the particles would look like (whilst social distancing).

After last week's artwork, we used watercolours to bring 'The Wave' to life. There are some brilliant artists starting to bloom in 5HK.
We discussed global issues, and what we can and can't control in relation to them. Reminder: you can use worry circles for anything that is making you worry or feel anxious. If you are still feeling upset, make sure you speak to an adult! :)
Pupils had lots of fun during P.E. They practised their newly learnt skills and many pupils were very confident by the end of the lesson!
We had lots of fun during our scavenger hunt. Members of 5HK ran across the playground to find clues and hints about the different climates and weather patterns across the world. They used lots of their learning behaviours throughout this lesson!
This week, we have been looking at, the Japanese artist, Hokusai. Pupils in 5HK had their first attepmts of recreating the 'Great Wave' using some of his techniques.
