Transition fortnight
Every day in our transition fortnight, children delved into a new Fairy tale, exploring and investigating a strand of learning leading from the story.
In Cinderella, we explored the link between music and feelings. We also talked about Cinderella's treatment and chores. We potted beans and got into character with Jack and the Beanstalk, producing some fearsome giants and brave Jacks. The Emperor's New Clothes let us talk about how it is ok not knowing everything whilst later on exploring different fabrics and their characteristics. This tale also let us get 'arty' by designing and cutting out our own clothes. We tested whether we could run as fast as the Gingerbread Man. We met a witch in the Hayes similar to Hansel and Gretel whilst signposting our path with arrows similar to other countryside walks. We gave advice to Little Red Riding Hood in our conscience alleys and how to keep safe out and about.
