At Michael Drayton Junior School, we believe that ‘Every Child Matters.’ This is reflected in everything we do at school. The Every Child matters Agenda of Enjoying and Achieving, Staying safe, Making a positive Contribution, Being healthy and Achieving Economic Well-being are at the fore front of how we lead and manage the school.
Through the caring pastoral system, our school lays solid foundations in the development of well-motivated, confident and happy children who are willing to give their best on the road to high achievement. We believe that, through building happy working relationships, each child is enabled to thrive inside and outside the classroom.
Mrs Hall, is our school Learning Mentor
and she works alongside the Senior Leadership Team and SENCO to support families and their children to help remove any barriers to learning.
If your child is anxious or worried about any aspect of school or home life, such as a bereavement or a family break up, or if you think any situation at home may affect your child’s well-being or happiness at school, then it is important to let us know.
Mrs Hall has many connections with Outside Agencies and may be able to offer some help or advice on subjects such as housing or financial worries. She can also work with children on a 1:1 basis or in small groups to support their emotional well-being.
Learning & Family Support Teacher - Rebecca Plant
We all know that life can be challenging at times and as part of my role I offer emotional and practical support to parents. I also have many connections with Outside Agencies who may be able to offer additional support with a variety of issues such as housing, family problems, health issues etc. If there are any changes in your personal circumstances please let us know so that we can support you and your family.
Parenting is also difficult at times, particularly managing the behaviour of children. I have been trained to deliver the Triple P Parenting Programme, both on a 1:1 basis and group sessions. Triple P is Positive Parenting Program which is evidence based and has been shown to work for most families. It has been designed to give parents simple tips and strategies to help manage the big and small problems of family life. If you are interested in finding out more information, please feel free to contact me.
Here at Michael Drayton we want all children to succeed and achieve their full potential. Attending school regularly is a vital part of this. I am responsible for monitoring pupils attendance within school, alongside Mrs Butterick, Deputy Head and Miss Compton, Head Teacher. As a school we work hard to ensure attendance is high by supporting children and parents with attendance.
