Autumn 1 - A New Start

In our first Spanish lesson, 3SM learnt how to greet and say goodbye in Spanish. They practised key phrases such as "hola", "buenos días" and "adiós", while also spotting important sounds and silent letters to help with accurate pronunciation.

In our second Spanish lesson, the children practised feelings and emotions using simple phrases. They learnt how to say:

• Estoy – I am…

• Muy bien – very well

• Así así – so‑so

• Mal – bad / not great

In the third lesson children practised greetings:

• ¿Cómo se llama? – what is your name?

• Me llamo – my name is…

In lessons 4 and 5, the children practised numbers 1–10 in Spanish:

In lesson 6, the children learnt colour words in Spanish, including azul, verde, rojo, rosa, naranja and amarillo. To help make the learning memorable, they sang along to Is This the Way to Amarillo, linking the song to the colour yellow in Spanish.
