About Your Teacher
Mrs. Wainwright
I’ve been teaching at Michael Drayton for more than a decade and really enjoy both my roles in class and as part of the senior leadership team.
My favourite subjects in school are Maths and PE – things I’m lucky enough to be able to teach on a regular basis. I’m looking forward to passing on my enthusiasm for these, and other subjects, to the children in my class and year group.
Outside of school I love spending time with my family and crazy border-collie. I’m often found outdoors – walking the dog, playing on the water (paddle boarding, surfing and kayaking) and riding my bike. My class are also often found outdoors making the most of our fabulous grounds – great for our well-being and learning.
Mrs Ward
I began my journey at MDJS as a volunteer before becoming a more permanent member of the team in 2019, when I took on a role as a teaching assistant. In the summer term of 2023, I took the next step in my career and decided to begin my PGCE. Throughout my PGCE I have taught within years 4, 5 and 6 and had a placement at a local infant school where I taught in a year 2 class. I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching within all year groups and am very excited to be back in year 5 this year.
I love to teach the creative subjects, particularly art and DT, I believe that the creative subjects are a great way for children to express their individuality. I aspire to create a warm and welcoming classroom environment where every child feels safe and included, allowing them to enjoy their learning and reach their full potential.
Outside of school, when I am not spending time with my family, I will very often be found with a book in my hand. I am also well known for my love of all things Christmas!
